Short Walks in Bedfordshire

Three Locks at Stoke Hammond
Description and Walk
It’s a canalside walk beside the Grand Union Canal. From the car park you can obviously either walk one way or the other, and then back again.
In either direction you can only walk on one side of the canal, there are not towpaths on both sides of the canal to choose between. Keep walking until you’ve seen enough barges, ducks, canalside joggers and cyclists for one day, then give in and go to the pub.

Parking
Parking is Free.
Parking address: Leighton Rd, Stoke Hammond, Milton Keynes MK17 9DD.
There doesn’t appear to be a road number to aim at here, not even for the adjacent ‘The three Locks’ pub. However, there are brown tourist information signs nearby for Three Locks, and Leighton Road is not very long. There are two car parks available: the pub car park, if you intend to be a patron, plus a bigger car park operated by Buckinghamshire County Council, which is fairly large and free at the time of writing.
Place/s to Eat
The blindingly obvious choice is to go into The Three Locks pub, since it’s right next to the car park with nothing else in sight. They have an outdoor, lockside eating area for when the weather is clement. The pub generally gets decent reviews on Trip advisor, and gets billed as a ‘gastropub’, which is another way of saying that burger and chips will cost you £13.50, as it does in this case.
