River Lea at Ware
Description and Walk
You can go in either direction from the bridge at the end of Ware High Street - see parking address, below. Needless to say this is a ‘there and back’ walk - not a circular one. Walk along by the river as far as you want until you’ve had enough, then head back. The riverside footpaths are fairly even, and walking boots are probably not needed.
Nothing special to see as far as we know, unless you count the gazebos that date back to the eighteenh and nineteenth centuries, and which overhang the river on one side. You can see the gazebos in the header picture at the top of this page.

Parking
Parking is Pay & Display - except Sundays.
Parking address: Kibes Lane, Ware, Hertfordshire, SG12 7BS
There are two car parks in Kibes Lane (one either side of the road), which is very close to the river. At the time of writing the car parks are free on Sundays and bank holidays. We don’t know Ware that well, but these look as if they might get busy on weekdays and Saturdays, as neither car park is very big.
The Kibes Lane car parks are only about a hundred metres from the bridge in the High Street where you pick up the river.
Place/s to Eat
Since the walk begins and ends right by the Waterside Inn this is an obvious place to eat. The food is good and you can eat, or just have a coffee, indoors or out. We have only been on Sunday lunchtimes, and have found it to be popular, but not so busy that everything takes an age. Recommended.
