Stanborough Park
Description and Walk
Stanborough Park, AKA Stanborough Lakes, is a 126-acre park in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
Formerly a sand quarry, the park features two lakes and two car parks, and is divided into two parts by the A6129, Stanborough Road.
The lake on the north side is referred to as the Boating Lake – with small boats for hire - and the south side is the Sailing Lake. Also on the south side is the Terranova Italian restaurant (proper restaurant by the lake).
Café-style facilities are also available on the south side should you require a simple cup of tea and a bun.
The south side is very popular with anglers, and there is a small nature reserve, Stanborough Reedmarsh, at one end of it.
As our video illustrates, Stanborough Lakes is a pleasant location for a walk and a picnic when the weather’s good.
